The Great Little Trains of Wales

November 21, 2021 01:14AM
2021 has been the second year in a row that I have been unable to get to Narrow Guage country, hopefully, to be sorted in 2022. I have been filling my time visiting many UK heritage lines. I recently attended part of the extravaganza of the Welsh Narrow Guage. A ten-day festival of the best of what these lines have to offer.

The clip below, filmed on 9th November was shot on a fowl day weatherwise on the Vale of Rheidol Railway and features the ex-South African Garratt NG G13 #60 Drakensberg.

In the clip, #60 picks her way along the ledge high above the River Rheidol on the final stretch of the Vale of Rheidol Railway between Rhiwfon Halt and Devil's Bridge. Drakensberg begins to struggle with wheels slipping, and the loco almost stalls at Tynycastell.
