John Lewis took this photo at South Baker on the Sumpter Valley Ry. in 1958. We have Oregon Lumber Co. Shay #7 stored serviceable with SVRy flat #76605 and tank car #100. By this time, the building to the right was primarily used as a truck shop with one short stall where SVRy Davenport switch engine #101 was stored. This building was built to house the big articulated engines #250 and #251. #7 as many readers know survives today at Hesston, Indiana and tank car #100 is at SVRR. Sadly, the flat car, which was the last one on the roster was scrapped after the South Baker plant shut down at the end of 1961. The scan is from the SVRR Archive.
