Thank you for the background Fritz. What I always found interesting was the volume of DB gons saved, I presume the thought being that they would be most useful for MOW and only 5 highside gons saved, them being perhaps less useful in that capacity. I believe that there were a good number of the highside gons that bit the dust in Durango in the early 70's, a real shame, but you can't save them all. Pretty good stashing of the 4000's and other outfit cars too, I believe only the 04298 and 04801 weren't saved.

A lot of the 3000's and all of the 5500's I believe came from either storage in Chama (see Vernon Glover's book on the C&TS and the list of cars on site in Chama in the 70's - a LOT are/were later on the D&S- still wonder what happened to Steel Flats 6210/6218...) or from Farmington(?) when Bradshaw bought the line, so he definitely deserves credit a lot of their presence on the D&S.
