Two day's pay for a train crew, plus deadheading the first day's train crew from Chama back to Durango on 10/09, and the second day's train crew from Alamosa to Chama early on the morning of 10/10/68, might have cost the railroad more than the increase of the scrap value of the cars in Alamosa vs Durango . . .

. . . Just a hunch from a notoriously wild-eyed foamer.
