My memories of trips on the Silverton after 1970 (D&RGW and D&S) up into the new century includes all the sidings being crammed with freight cars. I always wondered why the D&RGW held onto so many after the Chama-Durango line was scrapped. It's not like they intended to haul freight ever again if they could avoid it.
