A little late to the party here, but thought I'd post an early 2000's D&S era roster and show what's moved in total. Dave Dye's website continues to be the best source of info on surviivng cars or those that made it into the preservation era (not error as I originally typed...geez) and much of this can be found there, although there are a few updates.
Back in ~2004, my Dad and I went through each string of freight cars and noted locations and numbers of every car in cooperation with the D&S. I believe that there was only one DB gon in Silverton and two 6600's that no number could be found on. This was prior to the selling that began shortly thereafter. Unfortunately, my notes are well buried somewhere at the moment. I don't believe that except for a couple cars noted below that are or have been parted out, that anything has been lost from the north yard or other sales.
I don't think this is 100% complete of all sales and up to date as the D&S continues to sell off cars and I believe now that all of the cars at Tacoma siding are now in other homes I believe. Would appreciate any other updates added to the list. This will just list freight cars only.
