Ridgway Railroad Museum's 18th annual Ouray County Railroad Days will be September 25 and 26. Schedule is:
Saturday: 9 am - noon model train open house at Don Paulson's home, 17 Whitehouse Ln halfway between Ouray and Ridgway
9 am - 4 pm free rides on Goose 4, Motor 1, and the Model T inspection car, docents on duty for tours and to answer questions.
7 pm - Don Paulson lecture on Motors and Galloping Geese in the Ridgway town hall community room
Sunday 9 am - 4 pm free rides on Goose 4, Motor 1 and the Model T track inspection car.
No hikes this year because US 550 is closed to traffic on Thursday and Friday between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm for utility work. Hikes should return next year.
This weekend is also Old West Fest in Ridgway, with many heritage and movie related programs and activities. Featured films are True Grit (of course) and Sons of Katie Elder, which has a Ridgway connection (the story, not the making of the film). Music, food, demonstrations, cowboy poetry, a concert, all kinds of stuff.
