Brooks Moguls To The Rescue

This plow train on the Sumpter Valley appears to coupled to the front of the daily passenger train. The rear engine is #9 which was on roster from 1906-1914. The next engine moving forward is #5. This would be 2nd #5, and it was traded off to the Eurkeka Nevada in 1912. The next engine is #7 which doesn't help us with a date. These three are all Brooks moguls. The lead engine may be another Brooks Mogul, but I can't see a number or anything to positively identify it. So, we can probably date the photo to the date range 1906 to 1912. The photographer was certainly intrepid to get this shot. The scan is from the SVRR Archive.
