This plow train on the Sumpter Valley appears to coupled to the front of the daily passenger train. The rear engine is #9 which was on roster from 1906-1914. The next engine moving forward is #5. This would be 2nd #5, and it was traded off to the Eurkeka Nevada in 1912. The next engine is #7 which doesn't help us with a date. These three are all Brooks moguls. The lead engine may be another Brooks Mogul, but I can't see a number or anything to positively identify it. So, we can probably date the photo to the date range 1906 to 1912.
