White Pass & Yukon #81

Here we are up north on the White Pass & Yukon, with the time machine rolled back to July 4th, 1954. This shot was taken at Bennett Station. Note that the engine is #81, which is our pride and joy at SVRR #19. The Sumpter Valley Ry. sold #19 and sister #20 to the White Pass at the beginning of the year in 1941. Both engines after having been long out of service were acquired by SVRR in 1977 and returned to the lower 48 with #19 operational today. The photo was donated to the SVRR Archive by Taylor Rush.
