It wasn't just Eureka, it was an unfortunate and complicated combination of a number of issues. What I was told by a member of the Eureka crew was that the Eureka's blower connection worked loose. Not a catastrophic failure like some people are claiming on facebook, and easily fixable. But they were also dealing with bad wood on both locomotives, sanding issues, Glenbrook started running low on water in the tender, and the crews ran out of time on the law.

The first run on Sunday August 22nd the Eureka was actually pulling the entire train plus the Glenbrook for a short while because Glenbrook couldn't keep steam due to a firing issue. We lost all of our runby time waiting for Glenbrook to build up steam just west of Lava but they got us home on schedule. My applause to both Eureka and Glenbrook teams for putting in the hard work, effort and sacrifice to make this event possible for us to enjoy, even with the setbacks.
