That's fairly close (needs a little more curve to the top bar and lower the tip a bit) to the 57's tender number in a photo listed as circa 1903. Pg 295 of MHF's DRG - The Early Years. That's maybe the next earlier style. I'm not sure if it's that style or the one just preceding it where the 4s temporarily lost their top serifs (Salida roundhouse pics 1890s).
