O Scale National Convention

Michelle Kempema who is the Executive Director of the Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley brought 21 attendees from the O Scale National Convention (model railroad group) to Durango today to ride the Durango & Silverton NGRR. The rode the C&TS yesterday.

Jeff Ellingson, curator of the D&S round house museum gave the group a special early tour of the roundhouse, shop and yard before they boarded the double header train for Silverton.

They got a special ride today. The D&S had been putting on the helper engine at the Hermosa waster for the climb to Rockwood. Today the helper was put on just other side of the Animas River bridge, so they got a double header all the way up the valley. Thanks to Jeff and the D&S for giving them a special day.
