I have a cabin in San Luis area and remember the passenger trains for tourists once a week, but of course that is gone. They had rebuilt the passenger loading platform about four years ago. It's a shame because the route goes through some beautiful country. They had already ceased steam operations, but if they could get a standard gauge steam engine, maybe they could make it work somehow. It would be nice to see there be some growth in Fort Garland from tourists. One gas station and a store with 1/3 full shelves stinks. Always have to drive to Alamosa for supplies. More interested to see what's still standing the next time I visit this summer. Hope things haven't totally gone under.
