I had a call from Gordon in the late 1990's... I had been invited to participate on the Base Closure report for the Alameda Naval Air Station... As part of our work we realized that the site of the South Pacific Coast ferry terminal, which burned in 1903, sending 43 cars into the bay, was not burred under the air base runways as expected, and instead was a mound in the bay... Discussions about areological resources insured. And Gordon (aka Cho Choo) called me as the National Park Service historian... to discuss what might be found in the mound...
I think the last time we met was at the National Narrow Gauge Convention in Pasadena
