Yes the 18 is indeed headed to Durango again. Its primary role will simply be to add some depth to our 3 oil burner, 2 Alco summer rotation by pinch hitting in helper service. To date in 2021 the D&S has far exceeded its typical ridership numbers in a normal pre covid winter; and it's being done at 50% capacity. Advanced reservations indicate that trend will continue this summer, so oil burning power will be needed.
From the CCR perspective this lease provides a nice monetary influx for us continue our restoration projects as well as providing a fund for the future operations of the 18, including hopefully a return visit to Laws, in a year that otherwise we would possibly have not even operated the 18 publicly.
As for our other D&S power, joining 107 and 493, 473 should be in service by mid May with 480 by the end of May. 101, too, should be in service by very early June.
