The next fill was slightly larger:
We're looking east back towards the large trestle. A lot for rock work went into making this.
Here's a view of the same fill looking to the southeast with my wife and Kevin & Sandra Ryan for scale. While my wife has accompanied me in some of my forays, this is the first time my friends had done any railroad exploring and they enjoyed it.
This entire area was littered with Hercules black powder cans (forgot to take a pic).
Since the railroad was abandoned at a time when scrap prices were high, there is not much metal to be found. Here's a spike:
This was one of only two I found in the 1/4 mile I hiked.
