Freight for phraudugraghs....

December 02, 2020 05:33PM
Two of my worlds of interest -old tractors and narrow gauge- came together today. On an antique tractor website, a large online auction of old tractors in Delores, CO was mentioned today. Indeed, there are a lot of old tractors in need of restoration for sale at that auction.

I've always wondered how many went to SW CO via the narrow gauge. John West has photos of new John Deeres on flatcars in the early 60's. There are other photos of older Deeres in Durango, also on flat cars.

It's halfway tempting to buy a couple tractors on this auction, paint them, and put them on a flat car for period photo freights. I'm curious how many of them actually found their way through the Toltec Gorge back in the day to their destination???

Anyone game for a load of tractors?? smiling smiley
