A compressor came along with the Porter. It's an Ingersoll IR-36, It puts out 36 CFM which should get the engine up to operating pressure in about 5.5 minutes.I have found operating and maintenance instructions on the internet. These compressors were designed around the late 1930s-early 1940, I have read. They were produced in the forties and fifties. One of our volunteere says it runs, as he's familiar with it. These were a rotary compressor, with 6 cylinders. 3 to run it and 3 to pump air. One improvement someone made to it years ago was to install an electric start. So if we mount the compressor on a small flatbed car, which we have a few, behind the engine, add a gas can and battery, it should run for as long as we need to.You can view these compressors running on Youtube.I received measurements for the cab, which I'll be welding up, from the Black Hills Mining Museum inSouth Dakota., which has an engine similar to this. This engine runs but needs work on the brake system.
