Scratch building a HOn2 mechanism would be mighty tedious considering the size and complexities involved. My suggestion would be to go the HOn30 route with a Bachmann N scale 0-4-0 mechanism. They can be found at train shows and on E-bay at not too outragious prices. Keep us informed of your progress.
