One thing that made those Kistler recordings of Rayonier 120 sound so haunting was the
engineer at the time, Clark Pennick. He'd never completely let go of the chord while doing
grade crossings through US101.
As an aside, this whistle traveled a lot in the 70s' She was on former Pickering Shay 11 at
Rio Vista Junction several times, on former Pickering Heisler 10 at Klamath ,CA during the
summer of 1972 when I worked there with Dan Ranger. She was also briefly on former
Kennecott Copper 0-4-0T 309 at Castro Point in Richmond, CA. She also spent a little time
in Hawaii at Lahaina. Pictures exist of this.
In early 1972, I was asked if I could bring her back to CA from a location in WA where she had been for awhile.
I did that, but first was able to convince Bob Strang and Onni Parta at Chemainus, BC, to put it on M-B 2-8-2T
1055 for a few hours. Then it headed on its way back home.
