I made a clip with my supposed titles for a couple of people to check out. Two think this is 2 years put together. As Earl stated, there was the washout and we believe he rode Ridgeway to Lizardhead and back. He does have some scenes from the highway of the washout which now lines up with what we are thinking. So in 1950 he is back and doing the Durango end. What is odd is there is some extra footage which might be the other direction from the 1949 trip. Both of these sources suggest we leave the order from Durango to Ridgway even though its two different years. There is a cool sequence of a gal taking the mail bags off the Goose, and you see her walk across the street to the post office with them. I believe this was Ophir and probably the 1949 trip. There is also a couple of steam scenes including a mid-train 452 at Dallas Divide(lead engine not shown but likely 461).
There is also some slides that have other steam shots that are not in the film, so figuring that out is another mystery. One has 461 in RGS paint and 452. One of the really neat scenes is the crew of the goose using a long pole
to connect to the telegraph line to call and find out where the train is they are supposed to meet. Then we see the freight. At the end we see 340 switching then departing Ridgway, before riding out of Montrose on the SG toward Grand Junction. Considering the rarity of RGS and how little I have seen over the years, its worth working on.
Thanks all for your input.
