I also met Gail when I was a teen and frequenting the Spotlight hobby shop during the early 70's. He shared many of his notes and sketches of narrow gauge rolling stock from his trips to Alamosa. He also shared his work on his live steam T-12 and encouraged me to finish construction of a Kemtron C-16. He took time to share with a young person his interest in the history on the narrow gauge and freely shared his knowledge.
