Mr. Bush has said publicly for several years that he plans to run the rotary eventually. This year he has said that he "hopes to run the rotary" in 2018. However, it still needs to be worked on and they still need to determine whether it will fit through the tunnels, since the new ballast has raised the roadbed, plus at least one tunnel has been relined since it last operated. It won't be worked on until there is free time in the shops. Finishing overhauls, doing major and minor maintenance on the locos and rolling stock are priority jobs. The rotary is low priority. Building a gage car to check out the tunnels also requires free time in the shops. In my opinion, if there is a rotary run in 2018, it won't be announced until shortly before it happens. Keep in mind the old proverb. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
