Last I checked my Poor Richard's Almanac, August 28 wasn't exactly "fall", and neither are September fourth, fifth or sixth.
SFAIK, the autumnal equinox isn't until September 22nd, about a week before the usual peak of Fall Colors.
OTOH, it wasn't too many years ago when a certain C&TS employee scheduled the Moonlight Dinner Trains on the week-
end closest to nights when there was a solid black disk on her calendar,* so what's a week or three among friends?

clearly labeled as which phase of the moon each of them represents . . .
