The 252 was owned by the Western Railway Preservation Society for a number of years with the intention of restoring it and running it on the Sumpter Valley.. However, other projects kept us busy and the group never had the time to start the restoration.
So, I bought the car with the plan of moving it to Como and making it part of the current efforts to return steam (and railcars) to Como. However, the Ridgway RR Museum made me an offer and seeing that the coach would return "Home" and get restored, I believed it was the best way to make sure the RGS #252 was preserved for the future.
Now if they could only get the history right on the information board.
The guys in Ridgway are doing a great job on the 252 and they do deserve our support
