Kirkman sells replacement glass lenses for radial lamps, both clear and green for $75 each. It would cost $300 for a pair of lamps, plus the cost of the metal work. Anyone know of a good tin smith?
The lamps the C&TS would need are the flat top electric version, as that is what the K-36's and K-37's carried. The 168 would need a set of Kerosene tops and the 463 could probably go either way.
I've examined a pair of kerosene top radial class lamps that belong to a friend and they are rather complex. If the internal shutter and rotating mount were omitted, so the lamps would always show the clear lens forward and to the side, as would be correct for freight extras, the job of creating a reproduction would be greatly simplified. Cast or weld fabricated metal brackets, some hinges and sheet metal would be all that would be required.
