Gato - Lumberton - Arbolos

June 11, 2000 01:22PM
These are some of the locations where a very small section of the main was preversed.
Lumberton has a second long enough for the 2 stock cars sitting on it. The same is true for Arbolos.
Gato WAS special because most of the track (300 feet or so of Mainline and a pass track and storage track) and buildings were in place for the last 30 years. The Store at Gato was just moved away and more is fear to be lost. Gato was fun to park your car and imagine yourself back in time.
Alamosa was kind of fun until a few years ago - one could still see the three rails in the grade crossing through the yard, but those have been paved over now.
