While on the subject of cabooses, at the May work session a new end sill was installed on the 0503, to replace one that was thoroughly rotted.
And Jack Salisbury volunteered to take all the 0503's cushions home and bring them back reupolstered, so that they are no longer 90 percent duct tape. He promises that the reupolstry will be utilitarian in keeping with the workingman's interior.
The 0503 is beginning to show its age and intensive usage....some serious thought needs to go in to how best preserve our (the C&TS's) only example of a long caboose.
The cabooses are very popular for charters, and get a lot of use.
