Ernie again, on page 65 of Terry's book -

"September 7: (Labor Day)  Due to the lack of valve oil for the locomotive, the run
to Antonito was cancelled, the fire was dropped on #483, and {she} was put away
in the enginehouse for the week.   {She} was fired up again during the afternoon
of Friday the 11th."

Here are four of Ernie's photos of #483 puttering around in Chama on 09/07/70, before she was put away for the week.

After the train was cancelled, #483's fire was dropped at the ash pit and she was again backed into the enginehouse:

After the conclusion of operations on Monday morning I packed up and headed home to California.  At that time the equipment delivered by the D&RGW on Tuesday and Thursday was scattered along the C&TS as follows:
        Antonito   -  #482, #495 & #488 and 40 cars.
        Lava        -  #492 and 8 cars.
        Big Horn  -  #484 and 26 cars.
        Chama    -  #483 and 6 cars (excluding cars owned by the scrapper).

Since the next operation wasn't until the following weekend, look for a followup post on September 12 . . .
