This question had been asked about 6 months ago on the old Board.
Earl had some great comments about the 483 vs the 492. He and Jack were debating which one would get back in service first. As I remember both would take a great deal of work. As the other post mentioned the 483 had some parts striped during the 482 - 497 swap. There was some rumors that the 483 had a warped crown sheet but again as I remember it was not warped but did need some work and well as new front and rear tube sheets.
I would bet the 483 would get back to service first. The K-36 always had a better reutation than the heavier K-37s.
I agree as would most of the readers that restoring ALL the remaining engine would be great but it takes a lot of time and money and money and money.
