The occasional "blank quote" editor error has struck again - maybe it's just as well -
so I won't be able to respond point-by-point to either post above. I do agree that
there's no way that a print can equal a projected image, but I'm trying to get digital
files for projection just in case somebody arranges a "Fiftieth Anniversary of the Last
Freights" get-together and I'm still around 3½ years from now. (I don't have a high-
end NEC monitor, but I do have a fairly new ViewSonic VP2655wp, and a seven year
old Epson projector that's due to be upgraded soon to a higher-res model.)
IIRC, both of you (and Michael Allen) all recommend the NikonScan software as being superior to VueScan, at least for Kodachrome slides. The disk that came with my refurbished 9000 had a version of Nikonscan on it, but not one compatible with Windows-7. Has Nikon upgraded the software, and is it available for download? (If not - since I can't justify hundreds of dollars for PhotoShop Pro to edit just a couple of shots - I'll just have to live with a few Elementized* backlit photos that look like Ted Rose paintings. It'll be tough, but somebody's got to do it
