Across the river (where the covered bridge used to be), the SR&RL group led by Bob Troup et al. have collected some surprising fragments of SR&RL equipment.
For example, this is what is purported to be the boiler of 'Bo-Peep' -- yes, that would be the Billerica & Bedford's 'Puck'. I don't know whose idea that fake stack was.
What is believed to be the tender tank from 20 (ex-Eustis 7).
And most astonishingly, the tender tanks from 16 and 18. I had always thought these two engines were identical, but apparently their original tenders as delivered by Baldwin were of slightly different dimensions, and this made it possible to identify them when they were dug out of the the fill at the south end of the Phillips yard in 2003. (When the two engines were converted from 2-6-0s to 2-6-2s in 1916 they required new shorter tenders to fit on the turntables, so the old tenders were discarded.)
Also found was an early handcar wheelset, with pedestals still attached.
