But just a short walk from the depot, the Phillips Historical Society holds an impressive collection of SR&RL railroadiana -- but plan ahead, because they're only open from 1-3pm on the first and third Sundays of each month!
Yes, that's a two-foot gauge velocipede, and a track bicycle with a double-flanged wheel on an outrigger. Note also the numberplate from 19 up on the wall.
19's headlight sits on GM F.N. Beal's office safe.
10's numberplate shares a dusty display case with Ed West's pocket watch (out of view).
The builder's plate from 7 (ex- P&R 1, 'Calvin Putnam'). EDIT: The construction number is wrong! SR&RL 7 was Portland Company C/N 615. This is apparently the builder's plate from Kennebec Central 2 -- but what is it doing in Phillips???
