How much did they make?

Chili Line conductor David Henry Hines made $5,000 in 1939 according to the 1940 census. Hines also was a veteran passenger conductor on the San Juna.
In comparison Shavano conductor Eugene P. Mahoney made $3,105. Like Hines, Mahoney worked 52 weeks.
Chili Line engineer Charles L. Arnell made $2,300 for 44 weeks work. He was high enough in seniority that he should not have been cut off so his eight weeks off may have been due to health issues. He died within a year of the last run on the Chili Line on Sept. 1, 1941.
Another engineer who didn't work all 52 weeks was Durango San Juan engineer George Densmore. He made $2,400 in 42 weeks. Again it may have been heath issues as Densmore died in 1943.
Fireman G.B. Greathouse worked all 52 weeks and made $1,500. Conductor E.B. Curtis, who also worked stand and standard gauge freight trains, made $3,500. Brakeman/conductor Charles Seale made $2,600 in 48 weeks and Alva Lyons made $1,735 in 45 weeks.
