Rail Motor Cars were almost always called "speeders" on logging lines, except that when they were used to transport logging crews they were called "crummys". The term "speeder" probably came about because the motor cars were faster than the average logging locomotive, if you had the nerve to run them fast. "Speeders" used in the woods could be anything from a converted Model T to a diesel powered unit capable of moving a couple of loaded cars. They served roughly the same purpose as pickup trucks, and often resembled them.
