The Nevada Northern crosses public roads and is therefore subject to FRA rules. I believe the NN is still attached to the General Railway System way up north at Cobre, which also subjects the Nevada Northern to FRA rules, even though the intervening approximately 140 miles of track are O.S. Ask the railroad what it had to go through during 2001-2005 to restore locomotive #40. I don't think the NN is a candidate to run the
Eureka.
FYI. the Nevada Northern
Railroad is an operation of the White Pine Railroad Historical Foundation. The East Ely Railroad Depot
Museum is an operation of the State of Nevada Division of Museums and History. It caused no end of confusion when word came out a couple of years ago that, because of state budget difficulties, the East Ely Railroad Depot Museum might be forced to close, and the general public jumped to the conclusion that the Nevada Northern Railroad was being closed, which never was the case. The Nevada Northern is alive and well, thank you; I don't know the current status of the East Ely Railroad Depot Museum.
I can't speak to the Roaring Camp or the V&T.
