The Penn (Pennsylvania) Station debacle helped to set off the preservation movement across the nation. As sad as it was that Penn Station fell, hundreds of buildings and historical sites around the nation have found new lives because of the Penn Station disaster. Good triumphs over bad in the long run. Wikipedia says this about the new Penn Station:
