Hi, Mike -
Rob Rossi of San Luis Obispo has a very nice "backyard" railroad on his ranch about 1/2 hour north of SLO, just off U.S. 101 in Santa Margarita. The Pacific Coast Railway has over two miles of 36" gauge track and an extensive collection of equipment. It's open to the public only a few times a year, but is well worth timing one of your trips so that you can stop by. IIRC, the annual Railroad Roundup - a fundraising event for the San Luis Obispo RR Museum - will be held in late April this year, but it's not yet listed on the Museum's web page at [
www.slorrm.com].
See the thread beginning with [
ngdiscussion.net] for additional information, and [
ngdiscussion.net] et seq for some photos taken during the Early Day Gas Engine & Tractor Association's Fiftieth Anniversary gathering at the PCRy in June, 2010. The yellow coaches in several of the photos are Disneyland's original "Retlaw" (sp?) cars dating from the mid-1950's.
