Just thought I'd post the general schedule of events for our upcoming Ouray County Railroad Days at the Ridgway Colorado Railroad museum.
Thursday, Sep 15: Guided hike on Silverton RR grade, Red Mountain Town to Guston.
Friday, Sep 16: Guided hike on Silverton RR grade, Guston to corkscrew turntable, Ironton and end of track at Albany.
Saturday Sep 17: Museum open house with short rides on Goose 4!! Yes, I said Goose 4! Open house at an excellent San Juan-based HOn3 layout in the morning, followed by Narrow gauge symposium of 6 half-hour talks and an evening keynote on the Ouray Branch of the D&RG.
Short talk topics include: Emma Sweeney; origins of the Galloping Goose name; progress report on Goose 4; Before and after a steam passenger trip; Excitement and humor on the narrow gauge; and the Silverton Northern and Silverton, Gladstone and Northerly railroads.
Sunday, Sep 18: guided auto tours along the RGS from Ridgway to Lizard Head (all day trip, 30+ stops), and the Ouray Branch D&RG (half-day trip, Colona to Ouray).
