Here is another thought for you all to kick around.Is it possible that the motor is a GM Canada export production unit for the war effort (that began in 1939 for us Canadians). There was a lot of swapping taking place all over the European theater of war between U.S. and Canadian forces,so it may have started out at a Canadian base somewhere and ended up on an American base later on.

There is a fellow in England who is an expert on GM war stuff, and I can't remember his name but someone here who is into WWII GM trucks will probably know who I mean.
