The painting was not intended to be used as documentation - it is based on documentation!

According to the caption under Jeff Ellingson's painting of #3 on page xx of George's book, 'This painting .... shows the Elkton in its original colors per the Baldwin Locomotive Works (BLW) specifications .... which calls [sic] for for painting the locomotive and tender in "Olive Green & Aluminum" and applying "Finish F 10".' There is a great deal of additional information in the caption as to the basis for the colors used.  Also, IIRC, within the past year or so someone posted the builder's card for F&CC #20, and I'm pretty sure the spec called for 'Olive Green' with silver trim - this was probably the F&CC standard at the time, no matter which builder constructed their engines.

p.s. My check for the #20 matching fund was posted this morning.  I'll be VERY happy to see #20 running again no matter what color she is, RGS Black OR F&CC Green - but NOT Tuscan Red or Thomas Blue!!
