As far as work on the RGS 20 goes, I worked for Strasburg and I can tell you a bit of where it stands as of November 2010.
I was assigned to work on the 20s Tender. A gantry was built to allow the tank to be lifted form the frame for inspection and to facilitate the removal of the bottom section which was pretty well roached.
The tank was then removed from the bottom section and is now suspended above the frame.
A new Stainless Steel bottom section was made and when I left , was awaiting fabrication and fitting.
A new section was put in on the tank top to replace a very thin segment and was welded in to match that seam of what came out.
On the frame itself, Damaged sections of the Frame that were bent or warped , not to mention creatively repaired in service , were cut out to bring the frame back into true.
Last I heard the next step was going to be sand blasting in preparation for the coating of the inside of the tender tank.
Sorry if it's a bit spotty , but I was on teh engines mroe than in the back shop.
