Very intresting photos indeed..... Thanks for showing them for us to see. When I was a welding inspector I was sent out to the Route 66 bridge in Santa Rosa, NM do to the fact of the contractor not remembering where the steel was undernethe. That concrete saw cut the girders up everywhere. I learn alot on the different age of steel on that job. Special welding rode had to be found to match the aged metal. I mag tested, heat sticked everything. Metals through time have changed so rapid that it is mind blowing. I would find it really hard to fix the bridge after seeing those pics. Some mentioned that the paint didn'
t come off in pic 9, My .02 is that the gap stopped the heat transfer. The one post mentioned of the girder rolling under the testing, I find that to to be the case. Can't kick the ol' pony hard enough to get it to act like a young colt. I think she'll be replaced. Hard to say that but even the locos she held up get new parts made.
