Thought I’d share this little coincidence. I drove over Lizard Head Pass today to see fall colors and replicate an Otto Perry photo of RGS #461 with a stock train trailed by caboose 0400. Imagine my surprise when I checked the date of Otto’s photo: October 1, 1951:
And here’s the exact same location 70 years later:

What are the odds?
Otto definitely had better weather in 1951…
