Sumpter Valley #4 In Bright New Paint

In Jan. of 1921, the South Baker round house of the Sumpter Valley Ry. caught fire and damaged a number of locomotives stored inside. Several of the engines had all wood cabs which were burned off. #4 was one of those engines. Here we see #4 after her rebuild with a new steel cab and the shop forces that rebuilt her proudly posing for their photo. The scan is from the SVRR Archive.
