A post on the FEGUA Facebook page stated that recent flooding in Guatemala has caused the three span truss bridge to wash out. This is the one just outside the yard on the mainline heading for Guatemala City. The two spans on the Zacapa side were washed away as seen in an accompanying video. The last train crossed it in 2007(?) with the ceasing of operations by Ferrovias Guatemala, then controlled by the Railroad Development Corporation. The bridge was washed out by hurricane Mitch in 1998 (or 1999) and was subsequently rebuilt by the RRDC.
It's yet another casualty for that section of the railroad. One can only wonder where things would be today if the government had left well enough alone.
