Hi Michael -
My guess would be that relatively few new narrow gauge engines were built for U.S. railroads after
the early 1900's. The D&RGW was already familiar with Walschaerts gear on their rebuilt K-27's,
and had no real incentive to try Baker on the K-28's in the early twenties. They already had all the
necessary tools and skills to maintain Walschaerts, so again - why change when the K-36's were
ordered or the K-37's converted from standard gauge 2-8-0's?
Other than the D&RGW and Uintah, did any U.S. narrow gauge railroads order new non-geared steam locomotives after 1920?

p.s. Did the D&RGW ever order any new standard gauge locomotives with Baker valve gear? IIRC, their only Baker-equipped engines were the old 2-8-8-2's purchased from the N&W during the WWII motive power shortage.
