Tom you're exactly right.

I should have added that the caboose in question was a post 1939 (40s to 60s era caboose). And, from what the modeling community can tell and listed by the manufacturer, that San Juan parlor car I posted an image of also falls into the amber lens era.

Sorry that I didn't make this clearer. Could easily confuse someone who didn't know the lens color changed.

I've always wondered why the Rio Grande decided to change the color. I know the Santa Fe used amber as well. Maybe a western thing?
