This car really is crunched. We have looked at it with the thought of some sort of restoration for display at the scale at the Martha Rose Smelter where we are to rebuild the scale platform and add enough of the track leading to the scale to display a car, but the sills are all badly crushed, as well as side boards, etc. It is a mess, though I think it can be done. There is some money set aside for car restoration that came from of all places, CDOT. A project for next year, maybe.
What I heard was that when the 493 was being moved, the water car and crane with out any brakes set got enough of a nudge that a several mile an hour collision took place and the high side gon caved in. That little crane is really heavy. And all the cars that got moved today had their brakes set, so there was no give.
