Well another Saturday full of activities on the PerusPiraPora. When I arrive at the mine in Cajamar they already had gotten a BIG Cat front end loader stuck in the mud next to the line of cars. There had been alot of rain lately and mud next to the drainage ditch was just perfect for the heavy loader to sink with it's big slick tires. They second loader had to move the end of one flat car and jerk the loader several times with a cable.
The whole action was to pick up two Koppel rocker dump cars that were in the line behind the 1897 Baldwin 0-6-2 ST engine. We wanted those specific two because those were the only ones modified with roller bearing journal boxes. But after the used the Loader to roll the coach out of the way and we flattened a few young goiaba fruit trees we were able to lift the cars easily with creative boom extention that the mine built for their bucket loaders. The two rocker dump cars got a high pressure power wash and one car frame was loaded into a friends truck and successfully delivered to the newly rebuilt track at the only road crossing available to us at our km 2.5. You can see later in the pictures after the exciting off loading that hit the rails perfectly and proved that yes cars with roller bearings roll much easier...
